Can I request custom sizes for prints?

Absolutely! You can choose from our standard sizes or request a custom size to perfectly fit your space. Just reach out with your specifications.

How can I ensure the authenticity of a fine art print?
Ensuring the authenticity of a fine art print is essential, especially if you’re investing a significant amount of money or if the artwork holds particular sentimental or historical value. Here’s a guide to help verify the authenticity of a fine art print:
  1. Certificate of Authenticity (COA):

    • Always look for a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) when purchasing a fine art print. This certificate should contain details about the artwork, the artist, the publisher, the printer, and any pertinent provenance.
    • Ensure the COA has signatures, stamps, or seals from recognized authorities or experts related to the art piece or the artist.
  2. Edition Details:

    • Limited edition prints should have a number (e.g., 50/100), which indicates the print’s position in the total run.
    • Confirm the edition size. An artwork that claims to be part of a limited run should not have numbers exceeding that run.
  3. Artist’s Signature:

    • Many authentic art prints will be signed by the artist, often in pencil (because pencil is hard to reproduce). The signature is usually found in the lower margin of the print.
    • Familiarize yourself with the artist’s genuine signature for comparison. Remember, signatures can be forged.
  4. Research the Artist and Publisher:

    • If possible, learn about the artist’s preferred printing methods, the kind of paper they use, and other specific characteristics of their prints.
    • Familiarize yourself with reputable publishers or print houses known to have worked with the artist.
  5. Expert Opinion:

    • If in doubt, seek an opinion from an art expert, historian, or curator who is familiar with the artist’s work or the specific art period.
    • Some professional art appraisers specialize in printmaking and can provide insights into authenticity.
  6. Printing Technique:

    • Understand different printmaking techniques (like etching, lithography, screen printing) and the distinct marks or characteristics they leave. This knowledge can help in identifying genuine prints from reproductions.
  7. Paper Quality:

    • Genuine art prints are often produced on high-quality, acid-free paper. Look at the paper’s edges. Authentic prints might have “deckled” or rough edges, which are a hallmark of high-quality paper.
  8. Watermarks and Blind Stamps:

    • Some original prints may have watermarks or blind stamps from the studio or the artist. Familiarize yourself with known watermarks or stamps related to the artwork in question.
  9. Provenance:

    • Track the history of ownership of the print. A well-documented provenance can be a strong indicator of authenticity.
    • Beware of gaps in provenance or any information that seems inconsistent or sketchy.
  10. Price Point:

  • If a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. A significantly lower price than the market rate might indicate a reproduction or forgery.

Remember, the art world can be complex, and forgeries can sometimes be incredibly convincing. Always approach art acquisitions with a combination of research, expert consultation, and careful observation.

Care of prints

Caring for Your Fine Art Print

Investing in a fine art print means bringing home a piece of timeless beauty, but it also requires special care to ensure its longevity. Here are some tips to keep your art looking its best:

  • Avoid Direct Sunlight: Extended exposure can cause colours to fade.
  • Handle with Care: Always touch the print by its edges, and preferably with clean, lint-free gloves.
  • Use Acid-Free Mats: This will ensure that the print does not yellow over time.
  • Keep Away from Moisture: Humidity can damage the print, so consider using a dehumidifier if necessary.
  • Regular Dusting: Use a soft cloth to gently remove dust and keep the print clean.

By following these guidelines, you can ensure that your art print remains vibrant and captivating for years to come.

Framing Options for a Fine Art Print

Choosing the right frame for your fine art print is crucial in enhancing its aesthetic appeal and ensuring its protection. Let’s explore some popular framing options:

Classic Wood: Timeless and versatile, wooden frames, especially in black, white, or natural finishes, complement most art prints.

Minimalist Metal: For a sleek and modern look, consider slim metal frames. They’re especially fitting for contemporary art pieces.

Floating Frame: This option suspends the artwork within the frame, allowing the print to appear as though it’s floating. It adds depth and is perfect for pieces where the edges are equally captivating.

Matting: An additional layer between the artwork and the frame, mats can accentuate the artwork. Choose a colour that complements or contrasts with your print for added depth.

UV-Protective Glass: To preserve the colours of your print, consider framing options that offer UV-protective glass. It reduces the risk of fading due to sunlight.

Acrylic Display: For a modern edge, opt for clear acrylic frames. They offer a ‘barely there’ look, allowing your art to be the focal point.

Remember, the right frame should not only match the artwork but also blend seamlessly with your space. Take your time, consult with framing professionals, and enjoy the process!

Best Lighting Options for a Fine Art Print

Illuminating your fine art print can accentuate its beauty, bringing out its colours, details, and textures. Here are some optimal lighting choices for showcasing your artwork:

  • LED Lights: Energy-efficient and long-lasting, LEDs emit minimal UV rays, reducing the risk of damage to your print. They’re available in a variety of tones to match your artwork’s mood.
  • Picture Lights: Mounted above the artwork, these are specifically designed to cast a soft, even light downwards, highlighting the entire piece.
  • Track Lighting: Versatile and adjustable, track lights can be directed to shine on specific areas of the print, creating dramatic effects.
  • Wall Washers: These lights provide uniform illumination, washing the entire wall with light and making larger artworks pop.
  • Recessed Lighting: Installed within the ceiling, they offer a subtle way to spotlight the artwork without any visible fixtures.
  • Ambient Room Lighting: Ensure your room’s general lighting doesn’t cast shadows or glare on the print. Soft, diffused light works best.

Always opt for lights with UV filters and avoid overly bright options. The goal is to enhance the artwork without compromising its longevity.
