Limited Edition Art Prints FAQ

The maximum edition size depends on the print size:

A4 — 100 prints
A3 — 50 prints
A2 — 25 prints
A1 — 10 prints

The smaller the edition, the fewer examples of that particular edition can ever be produced. Once the stated edition has been completed, it will not be increased or restarted.

Our Limited Edition Art Prints are produced on Hahnemühle Paper, a museum-quality fine-art paper widely used for photographic and fine-art printing.

Its smooth surface and matt finish are particularly suited to the detail, tonal range and colour found in Print of the Day artwork, while providing the archival qualities expected of a collector-quality fine-art print.

Print of the Day Limited Editions are produced using Canon's professional 12-colour LUCIA PRO pigment ink system.

The system uses Photo Black, Matte Black, Cyan, Photo Cyan, Magenta, Photo Magenta, Yellow, Red, Blue, Grey and Photo Grey pigment inks together with a Chroma Optimiser. The dedicated red and blue inks contribute to a wide colour gamut, while the black and grey inks provide rich blacks, detailed shadows and smooth tonal gradations.

Chroma Optimiser is a clear coating used to regulate surface reflection and improve uniformity. Combined with Hahnemühle Fine Art paper, the LUCIA PRO system provides the colour reproduction, tonal detail and print permanence required for Print of the Day Limited Editions.

Yes. Every Print of the Day Limited Edition Art Print is signed by Tim Pearson and supplied with a Hahnemühle Certificate of Authenticity, providing a physical record of the artwork and its place within the edition.

Our certification and edition records form part of the provenance system maintained for Print of the Day artworks, helping preserve a documented connection between the artwork, its edition and the print supplied to the collector.

Yes. Every Print of the Day Limited Edition Art Print is personally signed by Tim Pearson. This forms part of the authentication and presentation of each limited edition print and distinguishes it from our open edition range.

Yes. Each Limited Edition Art Print is individually numbered according to its position within the edition — for example, 7/50 identifies the seventh print in an edition limited to 50.

Edition numbers are controlled as part of Print of the Day's edition and provenance records.

Once all prints within a particular limited edition have been produced, that edition is closed permanently. The edition size will not subsequently be increased and additional copies will not be added to the sold-out edition.

This fixed limit is fundamental to the meaning of a limited edition.

A Limited Edition has a predetermined maximum number of prints. Each Print of the Day Limited Edition Art Print is individually numbered, personally signed by Tim Pearson and supplied with certification.

An Open Edition is not restricted to a predetermined number of prints and does not include the same limited-edition numbering and certification.

Both originate from Print of the Day artwork, but the Limited Edition is specifically produced and documented as a collectible edition.

Yes. Each print size is treated as its own distinct limited edition, with a separately defined edition limit.

For example, an artwork may be released as an A4 edition of 100, an A3 edition of 50 and an A2 edition of 25. Each size has its own edition numbering and records, so an A3 print numbered 7/50 belongs specifically to that A3 edition.

This allows collectors to choose a size while preserving a clearly defined limit for every edition.

No. Once a Limited Edition has been established with a stated maximum number of prints, that limit will not be increased.

An edition of 50 will remain an edition of 50, regardless of demand. Maintaining the original edition limit is an important part of protecting the integrity of the edition for existing collectors.

Print of the Day maintains structured records connecting the original artwork with its individual editions and certification.

Each artwork receives a permanent TPH-ART identification number, while its individual editions and certificates are separately identified within our provenance system. This creates a documented trail between the original digital artwork, the edition and the certified print.

For collectors, this means the history of an edition is managed as part of the artwork itself rather than relying solely on information printed on a product page.

The creative process may use different digital techniques depending on the work, but every finished image is selected, developed and prepared specifically as a Print of the Day artwork before entering the production system.

Modern generative and AI-assisted tools form part of Tim Pearson's creative process alongside photography, digital image-making, editing and other digital techniques.

These technologies are treated as creative tools rather than autonomous artists. Tim determines what is created, selects the work that progresses, develops the finished image and decides which artworks are ultimately released by Print of the Day.

Museum-quality fine-art printing combines high-resolution image reproduction with specialist fine-art papers and professional printing processes designed to reproduce artwork with excellent detail, tonal range and colour.

Print of the Day Limited Editions combine Hahnemühle Fine Art paper with Canon LUCIA PRO pigment inks, creating a professional fine-art printing system designed for excellent image quality and long-term print stability.

Pigment-based inks provide strong resistance to environmental factors, while the Hahnemühle fine-art paper provides the archival-quality foundation expected of a collector print. As with all works on paper, longevity also depends on appropriate handling, framing, display and storage.

Handle your print carefully and avoid touching the printed surface wherever possible. Clean, dry hands or suitable handling gloves are recommended when handling an unframed print.

For long-term display, professional framing using archival-quality materials is recommended. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, excessive humidity, heat and significant changes in environmental conditions.

A sold-out edition will never be reopened or enlarged. Once the stated number of prints within that particular edition has been produced, that edition is permanently closed.

This does not necessarily mean that every possible format of the underlying artwork ceases to exist. Different sizes or formats may constitute separately defined editions, each with its own stated limit. The limit of an existing edition, however, will never be changed.

The edition number identifies an individual print within a specific Limited Edition.

For example, 12/25 means that the print is number 12 from an edition restricted to a maximum of 25 prints.

The second number is therefore particularly important: it records the maximum size of that edition and does not increase later if the artwork becomes popular.

Every numbered print belongs to the same defined edition. A lower number does not mean that Print of the Day considers that particular print artistically superior to another number within the same edition.

Collectors may have their own preferences for particular edition numbers, but all prints within an edition are produced as examples of the same Limited Edition.

Your Certificate of Authenticity should be kept safely as part of the documentation accompanying your artwork.

We recommend retaining it even if the print is subsequently framed. The certificate forms part of the documented history of the Limited Edition and should ideally remain with the artwork if ownership is transferred in the future.

Yes. Print of the Day maintains structured records connecting each Limited Edition with its artwork and Certificate of Authenticity.

The artwork and certificate details will also be registered with Hahnemühle MyArtRegistry, including the relevant certificate number. This provides an additional record through which the authenticity and provenance of the Limited Edition can be verified.

Collectors should retain their Hahnemühle Certificate of Authenticity with the artwork, as its identifying information forms part of this provenance record.

Hahnemühle MyArtRegistry is an online artwork registration system associated with Hahnemühle's Certificate of Authenticity programme.

Print of the Day Limited Editions are registered with MyArtRegistry using their relevant artwork and certificate information, creating an additional record associated with the physical Certificate of Authenticity supplied with the print.

Together with Print of the Day's own artwork, edition and certificate records, this helps establish a documented provenance trail for the Limited Edition.
